Why Should You Relocate, Retire and Live In SW Florida?
Is it still possible to create a quality SWFL lifestyle in the face of hurricanes, a soft housing market, slow employment and rising debt?
The answers to these are yes, yes, yes and yes.
Where Do We Start?
We can start by dispelling the myths and getting some real answers.
This site aims to help you do just that.
The next step is self evaluation.
To create a quality, sustainable Florida lifestyle, we have to be willing to pull our heads out of the sand.
Those hurricanes gave us wake up calls and incentives to do just that.
Their messages were simple, yet very powerful.
They reminded us - in a land of forest fires, red tide, termites, lightening, sink holes, alligators ... not only how fragile paradise is, but how fragile we are in it if we don't exercise guardianship of it and ourselves.
Florida is unique. It's just not enough to move, retire or vacation here from up north or some other non-tropical part of the world and just "plug in and play".
The hurricanes showed us that it is just not enough to build houses that are styled "tropically" but "miss the boat" so to speak in terms of energy efficiency and storm resistance.
To live, retire, vacation or move to Florida and fully enjoy everything Florida has to offer today and always, means taking on a new green, sustainable attitude. An attitude that the covers our economic and social spheres as well as our environment (please note that currently vacation travel information is found on the relocating to Florida page).
